AFTERCARE

After your tattoo, Anna will apply a clear adhesive bandage to protect your tattoo. This bandage is to be worn for 5-7 days. It is there to protect your tattoo from harmful bacteria as well as to promote the healing process. If there is an excessive amount of fluid within the first 2 days, remove the bandage by following the steps provided below. If there is a small amount of fluid, leave the bandage intact as your body will use and absorb the plasma/fluid in the healing process.

It is not recommended to workout or do strenuous activities that could complicate the healing process.

No swimming/baths/hot tubs. Shower regularly and avoid getting the bandage too wet as it will loosen the adhesive around the edges.

When ready to remove the bandage, it is helpful to do so in a warm shower. The heat will help loosen the adhesive and allow the bandage to separate from your skin easier. Always start from a top corner and peel back against the bandage and down towards the tattoo. Do not pull away from the skin. Pull gently and slowly to avoid suddenly pulling out any pigment. If the bandage is stuck somewhere, wet it with warm water and pull lightly. Do not pull from the bottom up. If after removing the bandage there is a small amount of adhesive remaining on the skin, do not try to scrub it off. It should wash away gently on its own. If it is difficult to remove you can use a small amount of fragrance free, plain coconut oil to help remove it. Wash thoroughly afterwards.

After the bandage has been removed, wash your tattoo with an antibacterial, fragrance free soap 2-3 times daily and apply a tattoo specific ointment (H2Ocean, Hustle Butter Deluxe, Inkeeze) or fragrance free moisturizer (Aveeno, Lubriderm) as needed if the tattoo feels dry. Do not over moisturize.

Repeat this process until your new tattoo is completely healed (typically 2-3 weeks)
